The Association of Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (AIFCA) is delighted to announce that its Chief Officer, Rob Clark, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Marine Biological Association (MBA).
The MBA is the world’s oldest learned societies covering all aspects of marine life sciences and is dedicated to promoting research, education and communication.
The prestigious award is granted to those who have made significant contribution to the field of marine biology at the highest level.
Rob brings more than 20 years of experience in the management of England’s inshore waters. Before joining the AIFCA, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Southern IFCA and has held leadership roles across the national IFCA network.
His career spans fisheries science, policy, compliance, and at-sea enforcement, grounded in a strong commitment to evidence-based management and collaborative working between science, industry, and regulators.
Rob has contributed extensively to fisheries policy and management literature, including work on marine protected areas and the integration of scientific research into practical management.
Among his achievements, he led the establishment of England’s largest aquaculture area and managed the award-winning Poole Harbour Clam and Cockle Fishery, recognised nationally for innovation, sustainability, and effective partnership working.
